Wired drill pipe is showing real value

We ran WDP on a 9,800‑ft interval in the Delaware Basin last week; NPT down 12% with barrier verification at every connection… Real-time ECD and vibration let us adjust pumps on the stand and cut stick-slip without stretching the window. Are others seeing the same efficiency bump without compromising well control or crew bandwidth?

Seeing similar in Reeves; biggest bump came from a simple rule in the autodriller: ‘if stick-slip severity >3 for 10 s, drop RPM 15 and add 20 gpm,’ so nobody’s babysitting charts. Minor caveat — watch for fretting on WDP connectors after long hot runs; one bad pin cost us a stand; are you piping the WDP ECD into MPD to hold SBP during sweeps?

But what vibration Hz are you logging? Set ECD alarm +0.2 ppg, 5‑s ramp; “barrier verification” helps.

We tied WDP ECD into MPD with a soft “hold at +0.15 ppg” setpoint — autodriller freezes WOB for 8 s post‑connection while pumps ramp — and it cut our swab/surge and torsional spikes without adding crew; caveat: if choke latency creeps past about 0.7 s it hunts. Are you closed‑looping to MPD or just running alarms, @jennyh94?
